Really fresh and flavorful ingredients, made with care and attention, and really nailing how a sandwich should be constructed. The mac salad was fresh and excellent too. “ I should have visited this place before this week. I've been missing out! I only ordered whole Italian sandwich to go. I did ask to substitute chipotle mayonnaise for the chipotleless mayo. That worked out nicely. The bread was how bread should be, fresh and toothsome. There were generous portions of cold cuts, fresh and flavorful toppings and a dill pickle slice that took pride in being more than "just" a dill pickle. The standout were the tomatoes. Going to whatever lengths that it takes to get REAL red ripe tomatoes in April in Alabama is impressive! Somebody is serious about their tomatoes. I'm sure getting those hard, mealy, pink, flavor free greenhouse tomatoes is unavoidable in December. We all know that there are times that it's not unavoidable in Birmingham AL and yet they still do! I think greenhouse fauxmatoes in an Alabama summer has got to be a sin. How it didn't make the Ten Commandments, I don't know. (Maybe it was number eleven?) We should pass an ordinance or something. While we're at it we should ban selling iced tea without the option of a slice of lemon punishable by law as well. Selling fries when you know you are out of ketchup as well. I'm going back to Ampersand because they recognize that what ingredients are does not matter as much as the quality of those ingredients is. Is that so hard? ”

“ Y'all, One of my customers told me about the restaurant and said I must give it a try. Well I am here and I ordered a club sandwich all the way. The bread was soft and the toppings on the sandwich was delicious. It's a small quaint restaurant with a good size parking lot. They also have outdoor seating right next to an event center so if you're sitting outside you can hear the music. It's a sweet peaceful place. I also had a Grapico and Vicky's BBQ chips to set it off. So if you like a good sandwich stop on by. ”

“ I've heard such great things about Ampersandwich and was excited to finally visit. The store is near downtown Avondale and has plenty of parking. The inside is small, but cozy and the staff was quite friendly. I kept my order simple this time with a turkey and cheese sandwich. The seasoned peppers were my fav element but the bread was a bit harder than I prefer. I also tried the potato salad and enjoyed it! ”
